It's no secret that men are often emotionally immature and it can be a huge source of frustration and resentment - and the major cause for separation - for their partners.
Emotional immaturity in a partner can lead to unhealthy relationships, lack of communication and trust, and ultimately, an inability to build meaningful connections.
Whether it's a lack of emotional intelligence or an inability to express feelings, emotional immaturity can have a huge impact on relationships.
Unfortunately, because of this immaturity, many women end up acting as a parent to their partners and taking on the responsibility for their behaviour and acting as their moral compass. Whilst it might work in the short term, it's like having to be permanently responsible for 3 year old who's never going to grow up.
And it's exhausting.

We all have opinions (some of them are definitely Opinions) and we're all entitled to them. But a lifetime of being told that you're wrong, either in overt ways such as someone saying "That's not right!" or in more subtle ways such as dismissing or ignoring something you just said, has a huge impact on us over time.
Invalidation is a when someone denies or rejects our feelings, thoughts, and experiences and most women have been on the receiving end of that their whole lives. Invalidation makes us feel less worthy or valuable and over time, we can find that the ones invalidating us is ourselves.

I found it physically and emotionally challenging when I had my fourth child when I was 40, but having a third child aged 57, I just cannot imagine. But that's what Barb Higgins did.
A few years ago, Barb's teenaged daughter died suddenly from an undiagnosed brain tumour, then Barb's husband became very ill with renal failure and kidney disease. We all grieve and recover from grief in different ways, it's not a journey that is the same for anyone.
After being incapacitated by grief for several years, Barb sought counselling and eventually, she and her husband, Kenny, decided that having another baby was something that was the right thing for them to do, something that would complete their family.
